Bruce B. Elfvin

A Cum laude graduate of Cleveland State University's Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (1972), Mr. Elfvin received a B.A. from Northwestern University. (1969). Mr. Elfvin is certified as an employment specialist, having passed the Ohio Labor and Employment Specialty Certification Examination in November, 2001. He was recognized as one of Cleveland’s Best Lawyers for 2009. For the seventh consecutive year, he has been recognized him an Ohio Super Lawyer for employment. Best Lawyers of America has selected Mr. Elfvin for inclusion in its last ten editions, including the 2010 edition.

He is a member of the bars of: United States Supreme Court [1990]; Supreme Court of Ohio [1972]; Supreme Court of Illinois [1973]; Northern District of Ohio [1973]; Northern District of Illinois (and experimental Trial Bar) [1986]; Northern District of Indiana [1987]; Eastern District of Michigan [1989]; Southern District of Ohio [2003]; and, United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth [1984], Sixth [1980], Seventh [1977], Ninth [1990] and Federal [1990] Circuits.

During his experience with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from 1972 to 1985, Mr. Elfvin served as a Senior Trial Attorney, Chicago, Illinois; Regional Attorney - Cleveland District, Cleveland, Ohio (1979-83); and Assistant General Counsel (1983-85). His performance was recognized by EEOC and now Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as outstanding.

Mr. Elfvin is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), Labor and Employment Section and Litigation Section; Federal Bar Association (FBA); National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA); and the Ohio and Cleveland Employment Lawyers Association affiliates. He is currently the Sixth Circuit Representative on NELA's Amicus Committee. He has been a member of the planning committee for the Ohio Midwest Labor Law Conference for the past five years.

He is a Master of the Bench of the Cleveland Employment Inn of Court, and recently served as President, and is now immediate Past President of the Inn. He is an experienced private mediator and also serves on the ADR Panel for the Northern District of Ohio.

Mr. Elfvin is active in his community, whether coaching youth soccer, or assisting Cleveland Heights men and women soccer teams. He is currently District Master of District Lodge Pennsylvania No. 9 and Past Chairman of Nobel-Monitor Lodge No. 130 of the Swedish Vasa Order of America. Mr. Elfvin is a baritone member of the American Union of Swedish Singers [AUSS] and Vasa Voices of Cleveland.

Mr. Elfvin has been individually AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 1989.
