Professional Experience

His prior experience with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission provides him with a strong background in employment litigation. Mr. Elfvin represented the EEOC from 1972 to1985; serving as a Senior Trial Attorney Chicago, Illinois; Regional Attorney - Cleveland District Cleveland (1979-83); and Assistant General Counsel (1983-85). His performance was recognized by EEOC and now Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as outstanding.

He has been an active litigator in the area of employment discrimination for more than three decades and is a respected and sought after lecturer for continuing legal education seminars. He is an experienced private mediator and also serves on the ADR Panel for the Northern District of Ohio.

Education

A Cum laude graduate of Cleveland State University's Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (1972), Mr. Elfvin received a B.A. from Northwestern University. (1969). Certified as an employment specialist, having passed the Ohio Labor and Employment Specialty Certification Examination in November, 2001.

He has been recognized as one of the best lawyers in Northeast Ohio by Northern Ohio Live. For the third consecutive year, Cincinnati Magazine recognized him an Ohio Super Lawyer for employment. Best Lawyers of America has selected Mr. Elfvin for inclusion in its last six editions, including the 2006 edition.

Master of the Bench of the Cleveland Employment Inn of Court, and was recently elected to serve as Counselor (Vice Chair).

Community Activity

Mr. Elfvin is a licensed youth soccer coach, and has been an active member with the Eastside Kickers, Cleveland United, and Cleveland Heights men and women soccer teams for the past fifteen years. He is currently Vice District Master of District Lodge Pennsylvania No. 9 and Chairman of the Nobel-Monitor Lodge No. 130 of the Swedish Vasa Order of America. Mr. Elfvin is a baritone member of the American Union of Swedish Singers [AUSS] and Vasa Voices of Cleveland.
